Is it time to go dress shopping yet?!?

We are into December now, and I am eagerly awaiting Bryan to give the go-ahead on the Payne-Corley House. He's sort of wavering in between, "Yes, book it!" and "Well, maybe we should look at another place or two?" Unfortunately for him, he has the Tomboy Bride on his hands. I am terrified of not getting a favorable date if we wait too long. Plus there are so many other things to do...ahem, register...(and preferably before the holidays!).

I will admit, I am easily distracted by thoughts of save-the-dates, linens, registries, and of course, wedding dresses!!! Let's not forget the obsession I have with naming the tables. Part of it is there are so many ideas that I have that will make this wedding distinctly Bryan and I. But at the same time, I don't want to blend too many elements and end up with a classic-rock-meets-nature-meets-Philly-cheesesteak-meets-Green-Bay-Packers wedding. And I'll be darned if I don't find a way to get pictures of our puppy, Maggie, involved somewhere.

Long story short? We still technically don't know what we're doing, but I have at least figured out how to post pictures on The Knot while watching Bride Wars repeatedly on HBO (Best line ever: "you don't alter Vera Wang, you alter yourself to fit Vera" Oh, if only I had a Vera Wang-related problem...).

A few other things I've noticed:
1.) Songs I've always listened to now make me cry because I think about dancing to them at the wedding. I am hoping to cry sufficiently in the months leading up to the wedding as to reduce the amount of tears I shed on the actual wedding day!
2.) There is a market for t-shirts that say, "It's my day, IT'S MY DAY!!!". Does anyone know if they already sell these? I'm starting to think "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to" was about a wedding, not a birthday event.
3.) I actually don't care where we honeymoon! I'm so focused on the wedding itself that any vacation sounds nice for afterwards.
4.) Walking around any department store makes me heightens my awareness of how badly we need...well, everything. If it's got a barcode, we probably need it. And it will end up on the registry, I promise.

Hopefully I will have some good news this weekend regarding the time/place of the ceremony and reception! Fingers crossed!

  1. Well, lets hope that you can pick 1 theme and 1 motif and not a blend of everything. You want a classy event nonetheless :-) You can always theme your rehearsal one thing and your wedding another so that there are two feelings at your wedding. PS my vote is for the after party of your rehearsal to be at the bar in which you and your soon to be hubby met :-)

As for the It's My Day... ask and you shall receive. CustomInk.com allows you to create any message on any shirt that you like! So I say, design away and pull it out and wear it proudly whenever anyone tries to take the focus off of you for the day.

You will need 2 things on your honeymoon... sand and alcohol...

And lastly, please ask my husband about the bar codes on registries... over 1 year later and many things haven't yet been used! And in fact he said just the other day he wishes he thought more about the practicality of what we registered for to be sure that we purchased the best things for us as we are now and not the us we one day hope to be.

Keep moving forward, love. It's going to be an amazing day filled with classic-rock-meets-nature-meets-Philly-cheesesteak-meets-Green-Bay-Packers :-)

    Love always

  2. Aw this is so cute.
But yeah, he does need to make a decision soon... this wedding competition stuff is no joke. It exists.

  3. Lindsay, in terms of registry practicality, what sorts of things are you referring to? I.e. a leaf blower (one day need?) versus linens (need NOW)? Or something I really want...like china? What on earth could I register for that I wouldn't use?

  4. Im a strong supporter of registering for china now! And def linens. We registered for every gadget in the world bread machiene food saver griddle wok etc and the reality of it is while I'd love to use them all everydayi don't have the life where I can and being that storage in our home is limited.... Michael thinks we could have not got these things that I will use once in a while until we had a bigger home in which to store things :) so as for your leaf blower... Hold off on registering for that until you have ample closet and garage space. But register for china now! If you don't chances are you will never buy it in your life for yourself.I know several girls who didn't take my china advice and are now very upset they didn't.

  5. THANK YOU, LINDSAY!!! The voice of sanity! Bryan doesn't think we need china and of course, I love china, love hosting people for dinners, love collecting all things china-related. I can't imagine not registering for china. I'm going to go celebrate not being insane, thank you.
