Yesterday marked the 2-month point. Naturally, I woke up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep. I had so much to think about! I was thinking about my vows, I was thinking about my Dad walking me down the aisle, I was thinking about the details of our ceremony, I was thinking about how excited I am to write checks for thousands and thousands of dollars over the next two months (sarcasm - yes). But really, I couldn't have anticipated that 2 months out, I'd be so darn excited! Add to the mix that I had another great bridal shower yesterday hosted by my future-M.I.L., Aunt Debbie (my future-M.I.L.'s sister), and Aunt Molly (my future-M.I.L.'s S.I.L.!). It's funny, I know it gets chilly up here, but I really like Buffalo alot. I've been eating like crazy for the past few days between my first visit to Anchor Bar (home of the original chicken wings!), Chiavetta's chicken last night (Chiavetta's is a marinade - it is DELICIOUS!), and of course Thi and Ken's beautiful wedding on Saturday evening.
It's been a fantastic trip and I have plenty of pictures to upload from the past two weeks. On Friday, we drove two hours to the Finger Lakes which is essentially how New York does wine country (I didn't know this!). We went, specifically, to Keuke Lake. A little after 1pm, we made our first stop at Heron Hill Winery which boasts one of the Top Ten Wine Tasting Rooms in the World (as ranked by Travel magazine). It was easy to see why! Bryan, who does not touch white wine, was a major fan of their Semi-Dry Riesling (apparently Riesling is what this region does best!). And we ended up with two bottles of wine to bring home. We also ate lunch at their incredible cafe with a beautiful view of the rolling green hills and stunning mountainside along the lake. It was sunny, but the breeze was perfect coming off of the water - a gorgeous day. After lunch we went to Dr. Konstatin Frank's winery. Mainly, we just thought it was funny that someone named a winery "Dr. Frank's". But the wine tasting was complementary which made the tasting even sweeter! Obsessed with semi-dry Rieslings at this point, we again ended up with two bottles - uh, how are we getting this home???
After the beautiful day at the Finger Lakes, we headed back home. Bryan and Jon decided to treat Sonia and I to our first experience at Mighty Taco. Sonia and I were thinking margaritas and mariachi but Mighty Taco is...uh, basically, Taco Bell. Nevertheless, we ate a relatively inexpensive dinner and headed over to one of my favorite places in the Buffalo area, The Brew Pub. Lots of friends came out to spend time with us, including Groomsman Tony Cross, Groomsman Joe Shields, and Groomsman Tony DiMeo. I also got to meet one of Bryan's friends from college ('C-Brown') who, until recently, lived in Raleigh, NC. It was a really fun night that ended with Sonia and I attempting to get ourselves back to my future-M.I.L.'s house - yet, missing a turn and ending up on one of the local college campuses, instead. Good times. The boys played poker until late into the night while Sonia and I got our beauty sleep for Thi's wedding the next day.
I do want to share the details of the rest of the weekend (including comments like this one in reference to Thi and Ken's wedding, "Wow, they're serving oysters, crab cakes, and beef?? Sorry, guys, you get chicken."), but I may wait until Bryan FINALLY uploads the pictures for me to do so (I'm starting to feel like I owe months of pictures - maybe I'll make some kind of photo gallery at some point to link to?). Also, I have every intention of taking some pictures of the invitations to share on the blog as well (yes, I'm documenting everything at this point!).
There is ALOT on the agenda these next few weeks. The M.O.B. already has her list ready for when I arrive home in a month from tomorrow (garter, bird cage, jewelry). For me, I'm stoked to get home and check out the RSVPs that have arrived since Friday afternoon. I have my spreadsheets of who is eating what ready to go! We also have a couples shower slated for Saturday evening thrown by Mary Beth and Sonia which I am so excited about. But for now, we've got a few hours to run some Buffalo-based errands and cherish a few more hours with my future-M.I.L.! I am planning to have some pictures up by Thursday evening! Until then...!
