So less than 2 weeks to go until the Big Day...I'm getting really excited. I'm stunned at how relaxed I've been this week, though. Especially given that Bryan and I purchased a new luxury sedan...I mean, paid in full for the wedding. I actually didn't get sick as we were writing the checks for the flowers, the venue, and paying balances on other important things for the ceremony. This may be due to the fact that we overestimated on our attendees and so a number that I was expecting to be much much higher didn't look that bad in comparison. Now, we just relax and enjoy the rest of the ride.
This weekend is a mix of busy and not-so-busy on the wedding front. Yesterday, Bryan's co-workers started our weekend off with a Wedding Shower. I've met a good number of Bryan's coworkers in the past three years (of course, some of whom we're very good friends with and will be at the wedding!). But there were plenty of names to still pair with faces of people that I hadn't met before. So it was really nice and they had generously chipped in and gotten us some more things to complete our kitchen accessorizing.
Today, Bryan and I are going to begin something that I thought wouldn't happen until we were in a house - unpacking our wedding gifts from their boxes. Our second bedroom at this point is uninhabitable (and I am not complaining!). Our wedding presents extend from inside the closet to the bed and then over towards the door. In order to get in towards the bed, you have to climb over gifts - not the best set-up for hosting anyone during wedding week.
As most of you know, we wanted to be in a house well before this current point in time. We've had a run of bad luck between getting outbid on the first house we really like and the listing expiring on the second (and perfect) house (we've heard nothing on this in weeks and have essentially given up to focus on the wedding). Our intention is to get back into the house-hunting after the honeymoon. But for now, even though Bryan and I continually complain to each other about the apartment, I am motivated to really make it into a home (we complain, but it actually is a nice apartment). We have all of these beautiful and amazing things for a home! We could (and probably still will!) be in the apartment for at least another 6 months. I don't feel that it makes sense to live in boxes for the duration of that time.
Bryan, however, refuses to use any of the new stuff that's going to be unpacked until after the wedding because I told him that I heard it's bad luck to use your presents before the wedding. This means we'll just be looking at all this great stuff for 2 weeks as it sits in our cabinets and on our counters...so tempting...can I resist using our new dinnerware?...or the Keurig??? This might be physically painful for me.
My goal for the day is to make significant progress on packing up most of our current kitchen stuff and getting our new items unpacked and into the cabinets. We also will be visiting the 13.1 Half-Marathon Expo today as we are running a half-marathon tomorrow morning. This is one of my bright ideas (sarcasm, yes) that probably isn't going to work out too well for me because, although I've been in the gym with some regularity, I haven't trained nearly hard enough for this race due to blatantly not having enough time (yes, I know it's a poor excuse and I could just get up at 5AM and run but um, no, sorry). My intention is to put on my music, have a good run, and just survive it.
It's just after 9AM and we're about to hop to it. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Go Phillies!
