The Waiting Game

If this blog were a Facebook status update, it would say, "Tomboy Bride...is pretty sure her fiance is trying to make her head explode this morning." Case in point, I'm heading back to the great city of Philadelphia this weekend for my final dress fitting (VERY excited about this!). So I mentioned to Bryan that I needed to really get a lot of work done today, and that I'd like to get in early. He did help out this morning; he emptied the dishwasher and walked the dog.

As I got to work, I looked at my to-do list and quickly realized...well, there were just a few wedding things I needed to do (namely, finalize some details with Mary Beth regarding hair and make-up!). So come 10AM, and I still had not made any real headway on my work. I messaged Bryan and reminded him he needed to send me the final copy of our wedding program. "But Tomboy Bride, I thought those were done days ago?" Au contraire, turns out Bryan had some editing he wanted to do.

I'm all for collaboration if it's done in a timely manner. For days I've been reminding Bryan I need to get this sent to La Belle or else, they're not going to be done in time. He told me what he had changed and that he would send the changes to me. Again, I've been reminding him. So finally, this morning he sent his version to me. The editing consisted of changing things like "family and friends" to "friends and family". Really? Ok, so his edits are done and I tell him, I'm ready to send.

"Wait," he says, "I don't think Tony's last name is spelled right." "I'm pretty sure it is," I told him. "No, we've gotta check." Awesome, so now we've gotta wait to go home tonight and check on the RSVP card. "Check on The Knot," Bryan suggested, "Maybe they're still on there". I checked The Knot, Bed Bath and Beyond, I was having no luck. So Bryan has sent a text message to find out how his friend spells his last name. I know - he's a guy. And I'm pretty sure I've got it right, but we can't risk it. Grr, Bryan. Grrrrr.

And I'm waiting again on sending the program to get printed.

Some good news? Our wedding favors have been ordered!!! Right now, they're a surprise, but I'm very excited about them! We also bought a great unity candle on-line Saturday night. So while Bryan's dragging his feet on these programs, we've been somewhat productive. I think our count is all but finalized - we're waiting on two possibilities. But those two won't make or break our table numbers so I'm VERY happy about that! We're hovering right around the 120-mark. A little bigger than I thought I would ever have, but smaller than I expected as I was preparing for a couple dozen more people. I think it'll be a great size for the wedding. My final planning meeting is coming up on September 28th, so everything needs to be done as of that night. Then I'm assembling Welcome Bags, printing escort cards, and boxing everything for where it needs to go. I want to be a relaxed Bride going into the second week of October (although some claim this is nearly impossible).

It's an early lunchtime for me today since I am making every effort to kickbox this afternoon if all of my work is done (another incentive to get all my work done!).

Tomorrow, Mary's taking me out for my annual birthday lunch - my birthday is on Friday - just so you all know :-)

I will be at home for the weekend running around doing wedding-related things. But I am excited to see Bridesmaid Mrs. Smith's baby girl's nursery! She's due in 9 days...maybe she'll make an early debut on the 17th? It's a good day to be born!

Finally, I am still not caught up on Thank You cards yet. I bought a few more boxes and am working on still thanking everyone for our shower gifts. If you haven't gotten one from me yet, I haven't forgotten about you!!! I am going to try to catch up at least a bit tonight!

It's back to work for me - although I guess since I've gotten pretty much zero done, I should say "it's to work for me". I'll post an update this weekend following the last dress fitting!!!
