Giving into Temptation

Well, apparently I'm following my own blog now. It's obvious that the cold has not only frozen my hands, it has frozen my brain, too. I was trying to sign up to follow my friend Michelle's blog and was attempting to link to her blog through mine and ended up signing up to follow Adventures of a Tomboy Bride. So if you see my picture on the right-hand side as a "follower" of my blog, I promise, I am not that self-absorbed, just temporarily frozen and unable to figure out the simple things in life.

It has been All-Olympics-All-the-Time in Chez Soon-to-be-Hoey/Hoey. I am not yet quite sick of them, but it led to a conversation last night that went something like this:
Me: "Honey, all we do is watch TV anymore"
Bryan (staring at the television): "No, we do plenty of fun things"
Me: "Honey, we watch TV until it is late at night, then the TV watches us as we sleep"
Bryan (staring at the TV): "Shaun White competes tomorrow, SHAUN WHITE COMPETES TOMORROW!!!"

Ok, so maybe I'm slightly ready for these Winter Olympics to be over. Especially since the object of Bryan's affection recently is this CarrotTop-looking character that is pretty good at snowboarding (Shaun White) - or so I hear. I type this as Bryan is giving me the news that "I Love You Beth Cooper" came in the mail today from Blockbuster. Eh, if it were I Love You Bradley Cooper, I'd be alot more excited for that one. Is this married life?

I will say that we are collectively ready for the Engagement Party at the Heegaard household this weekend. It should be a great time, although I am struggling with my choice of footwear (this will result in a trip to DSW) and determining exactly when I will have time for a pedicure over the next few days (probably around the same time I end up at DSW - hey, I haven't had one in months!).

In wedding news, 8 days until I go dress shopping!!!!!

Today, Bridesmaid Lindsay G. and I went to Abby's Floral Design to finalize some ceremony-related details (which will be revealed...on October 15th!). It seems that the "little" details are the ones that I would like to keep secretive: some floral-related things will be top secret and musical choices will be confidential (if you get this information out of Bryan, tell me so I can kick him in the shin). We also have a creative idea for our "guest book" of sorts - one that we have not seen at any other wedding, so I'm pretty psyched. I am trying not to cave and give everything away, but it is hard. Eventually, I may break down and start posting pictures of my inspirations a la Martha Stewart-type wedding blogs.

Now, relating to the title of the post, I will say I failed at the registry sweepstakes again. I would like to give up my registry compulsions for Lent if I can - yes, I know it's Ash Wednesday today, so let's say starting tomorrow I will stop being insane and dancing everytime a gift has been bought. But it is funny how I'm realizing how things go together: we now have placemats (that all match each other!!!) on which we can eat Belgian waffles using our new flatware!!!! You might be thinking, "Belgian waffles on placemats?" Well, we'll eventually have dishes to hopefully eat them off of - that will match each other!! - but for now, I'm so psyched that our loved ones are checking out our registries (although Bryan seriously questions my sanity when I'm singing about a countertop convection oven - yes, this is the man with the opinions on stainless steel pots and pans, he just doesn't understand I tell you!).

Ok, I am off to practice being married because SHAUN WHITE IS COMPETING SHAUN WHITE IS COMPETING!!!

  1. I accidently started following my own blog and it was such a pain trying to figure out how to remove myself. BTW, love the Carrot Top comment!
