is starting off without my Honey! Bryan right now is stranded in Utah. He has been there all week for business. This is a royal bummer as it not only Valentine's Day Weekend but I am also being stalked by 2 creepy snowmen outside...snowmen that are way too big (taller than me!) to have been formed by the 3 inches of snow we received yesterday. For this reason I took video of them and subsequently ran away from them immediately. And this morning, one of them is not even there anymore. Not "not there" in the sense that some kids came by and beat him up leaving piles of snow as his remains. I mean "not there" in the sense that it looks like he was airlifted out. Or, in my mind, he came to life and ran away. I don't know about you, but my deadbolt is locked and I've been taking kickboxing classes (more on this to follow).
There's not alot to report in Wedding News this week, mainly because we're tired of writing checks totaling more money than I've ever spent in my life (yet oddly enough, we're having a "very affordable" wedding by the standards of my bridal magazines), but I will give the run-down on what we've got coming up:
1.) Bridesmaid Lindsay G. and I are going back to Abby's Floral Designs on Wednesday to discuss some of the secret details of the wedding. I think I've mentioned before that there are some things that are going to be under wraps until the big day to ensure somewhat of a "Wow" factor. The little details that the florist will be consulting with us on are included in that category. I wish I could talk about it, but I know I shouldn't! I can't give everything away, now, can I?
2.) Next Saturday, the wonderful Bridesmaid Tatum and her fantastic husband Eric are throwing a shindig in our honor. I will be wearing my new dress, which Bryan still isn't aware has been purchased...don't judge me, I'm just practicing for marriage! :-) I'm kidding!...sort of. This may make me the most overdressed person at the party, but it's half-my party and I'll wear a fancy dress if I want to!!
3.) There are 13 days left before I go wedding dress shopping with my Pennsylvania-based Entourage (meaning my Mom and Aunt Claire) and M.O.H. Nicole who is flying up for the occasion. I have been working out and eating healthy which, typically, is pretty status quo for me (well, except during that pesky year of writing my dissertation). But I have been kicking it into high gear Tomb Raider-style by taking a kickboxing class. You know what this means. If I don't like your wedding present, you get a roundhouse to the kidneys...
Ok, I am really kidding on that last statement. I am reserving my roundhouses in case any crazy Snowmen try to assault me while I'm walking my dog. But this class (which is taught by the previously mentioned Eric!) results in serious amounts of soreness for 1-2 days afterwards. And it's AWESOME! The only problem is my legs are still tired 2 days afterwards which means I'm suffering trying to run the long distances necessary for the half-marathon we're running in March. But I can't stop, I'm totally and helplessly addicted to being a badass in kickboxing. I am also hoping torturing myself physically ensures that I will also look amazing in the wedding dresses I try on.
The Big Fear right now? I'm worried I just won't like anything. It sounds like a ridiculous fear since on Say Yes to the Dress there are always such great success stories because they have dresses for every body type and every budget (well, on that show, maybe not every budget). But what if I am the ONE person that just can't find a dress? What if NOTHING looks good on me? Do they really make dresses for flat-chested, clumsy people? It took me eleven years of dating to meet the man I'm going to marry...can I possibly find the dress of my dreams in a day?!?
4.) Our Engagement Session with One Six Photography is officially booked for March 27th. Think Tomb Raider-squared for the next month and a half. That being said, you've gotta know what I booked for the day after...oh, that's right...CAKE TASTING!!! Bryan and I have selected a few cakes that we like, which was fun, but even more fun? Selecting flavors. I am bringing in the expertise of M.O.H. Nicole as Bryan doesn't eat cake (aside from cookie cakes). Nicole will have ran the half-marathon the previous weekend (March 21st) with Bryan and I as well, so she and I will have completely earned our rights to taste as many cakes as we want!!
And on that note, I am going to cuddle up with my canine Valentine, Maggie, and add stuff to our registries. I hope that Bryan begins his trek home shortly so that we can have our first (and, well, only) Valentine's Day Weekend together as an engaged couple!!!
