Maybe it's the caffeine (from the Skinny Hazelnut Latte I consumed in order to get through teaching the entire day today), but the impending party tonight has me in a state of extreme excitement. There has been alot of build up to this party as it's original conception by Tatum and Eric was before Christmas. Initially, our engagement was of course an excuse to have a party - not that we ever need one, but well, it allows us to justify whatever behaviors result from tonight. But I've realized over the past few weeks how much work and planning has gone into this party on the parts of many people, led by the organization efforts of Tatum and Nicole. Lucky for all of us, I have a new party dress (and shoes...and some new make-up). I think with all of this hard work, it was only fair I dress appropriately to thank them :-)
There is, of course, the risk that this party kicks our actual wedding's ass. But I think it's good to have a party to set the bar. We want the party to say, "Hey, our wedding is going to be AWESOME. And every party leading up to the Big Show is going to be AWESOME." It's sort of how the Critics Choice Awards mark the beginning of awards season. In this case, we still have the Golden Globes and SAG Awards which parallel the Bridal Showers and Bachelorette parties.
I know there are some surprises in store as many people have been very secretive to me regarding this evening. I kinda feel like Sandra Bullock anticipating my Academy Award (which, by the way, is in 2 weeks from tomorrow!). I am excited to see everyone tonight and then, of course, in 5 short days I will be back home showing M.O.H. Nicole the sights of Philadelphia and going wedding dress shopping!
Stay tuned tomorrow for the complete party review. You'll hear about what everyone wore, what we ate, the works!...ok, maybe not the first part. But I'll ramble more about my hot midnight blue dress and platinum strappy shoes (BCBG and Guess, respectively). For now, I will deal with my jitters by channeling my energy into party preparations after class!
That's exciting. I doubt that it will kick the wedding's ass. It's just a lead up. Have fun! I can't wait to hear about all of the surprises!
