Crockpot Love

Yes, I am terrible, as Mary just pointed out. With a bridal shower tomorrow, I couldn't resist the urge to look at our bridal registry. And as I'm scrolling down I'm like, "What? No one is buying anything, what the heck!? Doesn't anyone like me?" Mary: "You're terrible." Yes, yes, the presence of all of my nearest and dearest is OF COURSE appreciated. But you all already know I love you!!! Now you can give me presents to prove you love me back :-)

Scrolling scrolling...then it went something like this "oooh, someone bought the Little Dipper thingie, awesome, I can't wait to use that thing, Bridesmaid Mrs. Smith highly recommended it-OH-MY-GOD-SOMEONE-BOUGHT-OUR-CROCKPOT!!!!!"

This resulted in convulsive jumping while still seated at my desk. And some sort of Alleluia-spirit-fingers...or maybe I was doing jazz hands? Either way, I am STOKED.

Case in point, just Wednesday evening - I was tutoring until 9pm, Bryan was going to head to the gym after work. I put potatoes, carrots, chicken breasts, and chicken broth inside our current crockpot (the model that we have from the 1920s). I even started it out on High and after 2 hours turned to low figuring that whenever Bryan came in after at least 6 hours total, the food would be ready.

Eight and a half hours later I came home to a full crockpot. "You didn't eat?" I asked Bryan. "It wasn't cooked," he told me. WHAT? Tell me this crockpot has finally bitten the dust! I immediately checked our registry - crockpot, quantity still needed: 1. Me = sad.

I kept the chicken in for another two hours until I was satisfied with the texture of the potatoes and carrots (Yes, there was enough liquid in there - if that's what you're thinking!). I partially expected our current crockpot to start sputtering over that last 2 hours!

Needless to say, Bryan and I ate said chicken for dinner on Thursday evening after re-heating (sans crockpot). And today, YAY!!! There is a brand spankin' new HUGE crockpot in our future!!! Maybe I will see my new favorite device tomorrow...or maybe someone will make me sweat it out a little bit? Either way, I will not have more nights of undercooked chicken and veggies in my future and that's something we should all be happy about!

I don't want to give the impression that I'm too terrible. Mary did point out that I've been ridiculously excited over everything on my registry. And this is true - she's fascinated that I can still name from the shower in February exactly who gave me what. But every gift is such an integral part of the entertaining and building of our (eventual) home!

There is so much going on this weekend. I am extremely excited to see some of my favorite ladies tomorrow. And tonight, Bridesmaid Tami is coming into town with her little angel, Elijah and her puppy, Cameo. I can not wait! Tami and I have a very important David's Bridal run to make in the morning, then it's off to the shower at Bridesmaid Lindsay's parents incredible chateau! Tomorrow night is Bryan's birthday celebration (his birthday is Sunday!). I can't believe he's gonna be 32. I said that number this morning as we were brushing our teeth. And while my view of "what's old" is quite skewed thanks to Grandma, Aunt Lucy, Mom-Mom G., and all the other wonderful "old people" I grew up around having such incredible long lives. So while I don't think it's old...32 is kind of a high number. Which reminds me, I'm going to be 29 this year (September 17th, thank you very much). When did these numbers start getting so big?! Allright, that's my quarter-life crisis for today. Finally, I think there's more house hunting in our future on Sunday...progress - back to square one (we don't like anything!!!).

Anyways, the M.O.B. just called to talk about the big upcoming weekend and I told her I was blogging and would call her back - it's all about priorities, people!!! I can't wait to fill you all in on the events of the weekend as they occur. If you are reading this "at home" meaning my original home meaning Springfield, I will be home on May 10th. I am definitely looking forward to it! Also on May 9th, I will be unveiling a very special surprise for Mother's day. Have a great weekend everyone!

Go Phillies!
