La Dolce Vita

Ah, just another instance where I had blogged an entire weekend's worth of events only to have Blogger decide that everyone could wait a little longer for the run-down. Without further adieu, I give to you my second attempt. I'm going to try to cover alot including Megan and Mark's wedding, some of our house-hunting details, and the search for a rehearsal dinner venue. Additionally, I want to give our Homewood Suites webpage a plug. If I tire before we get through all of these things, I apologize. But the intentions are there.

Megan's Wedding Weekend -
Because I'm lazy I have not yet uploaded the photos I took from Thursday through Saturday. But I did steal some pictures from Lauren Hayden-Dyer's Facebook page, so hopefully those will hold everyone over. Thursday night landed us "in the club" for Megan's Bachelorette Party. I think I pulled it together quite allright for an old fart like myself. I found my sluttiest clothes, which for me, meant shorts and a black shirt with an opening in the back. I haven't been to a club in years, so it was fun to be back in the scene (although it is all so different from my old-lady-perspective now, yet oddly the same). The moral of the story? I was home by just after midnight and after 3 drinks (over the course of 4 hours), I was passed out by 12:30. WILD!

Friday, I struck fantastic-girlfriend-bliss because I got to hang out for a few hours with M.O.H Nicole (we met up at 8am, the morning after I was "in the club" - crazy!). Then in the afternoon, I got to see Bridesmaid Lindsay G. for awhile while I was getting my nails pimped out for the weekend. Friday night was Megan and Mark's beautiful rehearsal dinner at The Oceanaire Seafood Room. It was delish! The other cool thing about it was we got to chat with their dearest friends. Bryan found Poker Love with Megan's Bridesmaid Tangh's husband and we got to meet Megan's Mom, Jill, who should be in the Cute Lady Hall of Fame.

Saturday was oddly not hectic at all (due to Megan and Mark's impeccable planning). Us girls are started getting our hair and make-up done around 9am. Then it seemed like time just flew and we were in Dahlonega at the beautiful Frogtown Winery. Bryan ran uncharacteristically on time and managed to catch the shuttle from Megan and Mark's host hotel up to Frogtown. Come 5:30pm, the ceremony took place overlooking the mountains. The weather was beautiful (although I did see a bee flying around during the ceremony and was CONVINCED it was going to land on my bouquet - I actually had plans in case this happened, one of which included just throwing the bouquet off of the patio; I was also preparing myself to react without screaming).

Ok, so onto the gorgeous pictures:

You can see the view behind Megan and Mark (and me!)...isn't it spectacular? Above, that's me coming down the aisle at the start of the ceremony. If you're noticing the bling on my ears, Megan gave me the most beautiful earrings I've ever seen in real life. I love them!!!

To the left is a good full-length shot of Megan's dress. I've got more, but I don't know if photos do it justice. She looked incredible!!!
Below is a shot of my hair which I was extremely happy with. Only 42 bobby pins went into the making of that hair, not too shabby!

Here is Lauren and I before the ceremony. And below is a bunch of us book club girls on the dance floor after we got into the wine a little bit! There's also a crazy red-headed man in the picture that had his first glasses of wine since before Lent...this resulted in a very deep sleep on the bus ride home.

And their first dance!!! I've never seen people photograph so well during the first dance as Megan and Mark did. Every single picture that I took or that I've seen of them is awesome.

It was a beautiful wedding with beautiful people on a beautiful day. I am truly happy that Bryan and I got to share the day with Megan and Mark and their family and friends.
Bryan and I insanely had a 9:30am appointment with our fabulous realtor, TinaMarie, on Sunday morning. Let me just say I will never plan anything the morning after a wedding again. It wasn't even that we drank alot or were up super late or anything of that nature...I was just blatantly tired! I felt like I could've slept for days when I woke up on Sunday morning. This inevitably put me in a foul mood, but we managed to get through another productive round of house hunting (needless to say between houses Bryan would ask, "Are you ok?" "I'm just TIRED," I'd respond. This conversation occurred at least 6 times over the course of 10 houses.) Then I wanted a burrito, go figure. Anyways, we did find a house on Sunday that I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. But Bryan still loves a house we had seen the previous weekend. Interestingly, we have stayed consistent with our top 2 - even through another round of houses that we saw on Monday afternoon.
I keep telling myself (as does TinaMarie) that unless we build it ourselves, we are not going to find the perfect house. There's so much to consider. Backyards and kitchens and what can you replace or re-finish or expand and how's the neighborhood and the schools....the lists go on and on and on. The good thing is I think we have a good grip of what we don't like. So there are lots of instances where we approach a house and almost instantaneously turn around (based on location off a main road and things of that nature).
The styles of houses that Bryan and I like are slightly different. My taste is, as you'd probably predict, super traditional. I actually can't really describe Bryan's taste, but he does like alot of land around the house (which I also like). But I love the colonial-style houses with the front porch where I can one day sit in a rocker and yell at kids to get off my lawn. Ah, dreams....
In the midst of house-hunting on Monday, we took Bryan's mother (my future M.I.L.) over to candidate number one for a rehearsal venue. It's safe to say at this point that we are favoring Italian food within miles of the hotel. It's also safe to say we have alot of eating and pricing to do around Duluth and Lawrenceville for comparisons. I'm hoping to get some final candidates over the next few weeks through research. If it means I have to go around town eating manicotti and meatballs, frutti del mare and pasta fagioli and finishing it all off with cannolis and spumoni...hey, I gotta take one for the team :-P
Finally, I received the exciting news that my father's cousins Lorraine and Joe are coming to the wedding from New York. The M.O.B. told me that she wanted to pass along the hotel info to them but getting to our wedding website from The Knot is a pain. I'm still not certain as to the challenge of The Knot for the M.O.B. (www.theknot.com then scroll down and look to the right for "Find a couple's wedding webpage" and put my name in!). The hotel info is on our wedding webpage but for those of you who agree with the M.O.B. that The Knot is not user-friendly, you still need a hotel room!!! So here is the link to our personal web page through which you can book your reservations at the Homewood Suites in Lawrenceville:
Or you can call the hotel and tell them you're with our party: 770-277-1243
I think that's everything. I'm going to try to post and hope Blogger supports me this time. Otherwise I'm going to go cry. As always, feel free to contact me with questions about the logistics of what to do in Atlanta, directions, or just general conversation: tomboybride2010@gmail.com
